Mix: Flemming Dalum – Italo Cosmic

I am totally honoured to be able to say that, after a couple of weeks off on the mix front, we return with a mix from the Legend that is, Flemming Dalum.

Known as ‘the King of the Cut’ Flemming has one of the most envied collections in the world of Italo/Cosmic music.

I asked if he’d be interested in contributing to our ‘Heart On Sleeve’ feature, thinking it would be a bit much to ask for a mix but Flemming, being the music lover that he is, was keen to prepare us a mix of rare and little known Cosmic/Italo/Disco classics.

Flemming has really embraced Ableton and makes a mockery of those that say mixes made on computers are in some way less authentic or ‘easier’ to make than those on turntables. Over 1000 samples over 8 tracks in just over an hour and ten minutes this is a real work of art. Flemming is a master at work.

I’ve listened to this on rotation since I got it from him and I hear something new every time I listen to it. There is so much going on in here and I had heard hardly any of it before.

This mix is a real treat and we are so proud to be able to host it.

In Flemming’s words this is “traditional Italo, Cosmic Italo, Italian old ’78 disco’ (lots of 7inches)” and “”a journey back into more or less unknown Italian Disco and (the) Italo Cosmic universe”.
